Charleyne Brooks led a life of service to her church, family and community. She was a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Charleyne Brooks was born on December 30, 1930 to the late Agnes and Charlie Garner in Waco, Texas. She graduated in 1948 at Rosenberg High School in Rosenberg, Texas. On June 26, 1948, she married the love of her life, Howard Clive Brooks. They moved to Tucson, Arizona, in 1959. They relocated to Coppell, Texas in 2007 to join their sons.
Charleyne began her college studies at Lamar Tech in Beaumont, Texas. Charleyne and Clive moved to Tucson, Arizona for his work with Duval Copper Mine. She completed her Education Degree in 1958 at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. She taught school in the Tucson Independent School District for 28 years. In 1984, she was named Arizona Educator of the Year. Her love for the Lord always shined bright in all her endeavors. She was a member of The Door Church in Coppell, Texas.
Charleyne had many hobbies including quilting, cooking, gardening and walking. She always walked her dog Buddy which gave her an opportunity to get to know her neighbors and community. She served on the Senior Ministries at The Door Church. Her passion has always been for Seniors. She regularly made visits to Nursing Homes, Assisted Living and Rehabilitation Facilities in the area.
Charleyne Brooks is joining Clive Brooks her husband of 67 years in heaven. Charleyne Brooks is survived by sons, Charles and his wife Kathy, and Tim and his wife Jan; grandchildren AJ Brooks and his wife Kate, Abby Brooks Callahan and her husband, Sean, Jennifer Brooks Gamblin and her husband, Erik, and Scott Brooks and wife, Marci. Also surviving her are her great-grandchildren Kate, Annie, Joshua, Abbie, Deacon, Brooks, Nora, Liza and Maggie; sisters Margaret Cox and Agnes Garner; sister-in-law Bebe Brandon; nephews John Cox and his wife Alice and Irby Cox; nieces Nora Lou; great nieces and nephews Amy, Nathan, Benjamin and Matthew; great grand nieces and nephew Gavin, Harper and Poppy.
