

Chirayil John Mathew, better known as Baby, was born on January 19, 1932 to late Mr. John C. Mathew and Mrs. Mariam John at Kottayam (Kerala, India). Baby married Pennamma on November 3rd, 1958 and moved to Meenadom. He worked as a foreman at Swaraj Company in Kottayam. He also founded and served as secretary of an employees union within this company. Appachen enjoyed various activities such as painting, gardening, traveling, playing cards, socializing, and watching movies.
He moved to Dallas, Texas in December 1990. He was a member of Tabore Mar Thoma Church in Thottakad (Kerala, India) and later became a member of the Mar Thoma Church of Dallas, Farmers Branch. He is survived by his wife, Aleyamma Mathew (Pennamma); sons, John C. Mathew (Sabu), Cherian Mathew (Saji); daughter, Mariamma Thaimuriyil (Sally); daughters-in-law, Aleyamma Mathew (Molly), Ligimol Mathew (Ligi); son-in-law, Thomas Thaimuriyil (Aji); grandchildren, Sumi, Subin, Nigil, Nithin, Stacy, and Stephen. His three siblings, Mary, Kunjukunju, and Kunjamma preceded him to their eternal abode.
Appachen was a God-fearing man and a hard worker who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was especially known for his unmatched sense of humor and unique ability to make everyone from little children to the elderly laugh. We are proud of the great legacy Appachen has left behind for his children, grandchildren, and future generations.
