

Curtis Mitchell Petty, 83, born May 12, 1941 in Josephine, TX, went to be with the Lord on September 1, 2024 peacefully at his home in Argyle, TX, after a long battle with Parkinson's and kidney disease, with his wife by his side.
He is a graduate of Josephine High School, after, he joined the Air Force where he was a fighter jet mechanic, was a 32 degree Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the Mad Dog Car Club. He worked for Production Tool and Technology and was awarded Salesman of the Year in 2006 for his sales accomplishments in the aircraft and defense industry. He loved his job as well as working, and would still have been working had his health allowed. He missed working very much.
Curtis loved cars, car shows, winning Best of Show with his hot rod, his family and his friends. He never met a stranger.
Left to miss him is the love of his life, Lucretia, who he married in 1985 on New Year's Eve in Roanoke, TX. They celebrated 38 years of love together. Also left to cherish his memory are his children Phillip Petty (Rena) of Flower Mound, Dina Land of Decatur, Terry Petty (April) of Gun Barrel City, Gina Welty of Wylie, and Jason Joplin (Jamie) of Highland Village, his sister, Leo Young of Farmers Branch, 10 grandchildren, Cassey Land, Cody Land (Cassie), Samantha Petty, Shellbie Petty, Cheyanne Petty, Mitchell Petty, Zacharey Petty, Devin Welty (Riley), Seth Joplin, Slader Joplin, 4 great grandchildren, Hadlee Land, Hunter Land, Emilia Sanders, Kollyns Welty, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jess and Lola Petty, 2 brothers, Cleo and Bud Petty, and 7 sisters, Grace Chapman, Mildred Corman, Nita Smiley, Frances King, Mozelle Neal, Mickey Fricke, and Peggy Reagan.
Serving as pallbearers are Mr. Petty's six grandsons, Cody Land, Mitchell Petty, Zacharey Petty, Devin Welty, Seth Joplin, and Slader Joplin. Officiating services is Pastor Rich Mussler.
