David Michael Polly, 84, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019 at his home in Frisco, Texas after a long illness with COPD. David was born September 15, 1935 to Henry and Inga (Christensen) Polly in Waupaca, Wisconsin.
He graduated from Waupaca High School and took pride in his role as quarterback of the Waupaca Comets football team. He also loved his time performing with the Chain Skiers on the Chain of Lakes every summer.
He married Susan Jane Meier on March 14, 1960 and they spent the next 51 years together until her death from pancreatic cancer in December of 2011. David is survived by his 3 children, Jane and Leroy (Schraceo) and children Travis and Caitlin, Dean and Lisa and children Dustin, Ryan, Amanda and Sami, and Steve and Toni and his children Jeff and Stacee, 8 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way, as well as his sister, DiAnn Sorenson and abundant in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten.
From the minute his first grandson was born, he affectionately became known as our Poppy.
After a long career in the Real Estate industry, David and Susan relocated to the Dallas area to be near their growing family of grandkids and great-grands.
Travel and fishing were his passions and he pursued them with excellence! Every family member has their own Poppy travel memory… from a visit to Lambeau field, fishing trips in Canada, and cruising the high seas in style. Laughter was plentiful and family joys multiplied. Those times were precious to him. Just months before his passing he celebrated his 50th cruise with family and enjoyed every minute.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be made to The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at www.pancan.org.
