

Denny James Pentecost passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at home, with family present, after a battle with stage 4 lung cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, April 21, 2025 beginning 5:00pm at the Town Hall at The Sound. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association, or any cancer memorial of your choice in memory of Denny.
Denny was born December 29, 1958 in Algona, Iowa to Howard and Mildred (Loss) Pentecost. Denny graduated from Algona High School in 1977 and graduated from Arizona State University with a BA in Accounting in 1981. He became a CPA and used his expertise across several fields throughout his career. Denny's professional journey was diverse as his passions. He worked as the manager of accounting at Blackhawk and then the VP of accounting and finance at CBS. He was a proud owner of CPROMPT, INC that built customized IBM clones for businesses. For several years, he was a CFO for a roofing company. For the past 11 years, Denny worked for MQ Development Co. as a Commercial Real Estate Developer in Tampa Bay, Florida.
Denny was a man of many hobbies and talents where he made a plethora of lifelong friends. He collected coins, fine wines, and whiskey. He loved spending time collecting and sorting baseball cards with his daughter, Sarah. As a master chef, he made the best dumplings, turkey, hangar steak, Grandpa's chicken (duck breast), and mastered curing and smoking bacon. He was a lifelong learner and explorer; he had a deep interest in photography and astronomy. Denny loved animals, the outdoors, raising Wagyu cattle, chickens, goats, and donkeys on his ranch in Elmo, Texas. He rescued and fostered Australian Cattle dogs with his daughter, Alexis. He was a hockey fan and had season tickets to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Denny loved traveling with his wife, Sheri and creating lasting memories on trips to Spain, Japan, France, and across the United States. He took a memorable trip to Chile with his buddies. For the last few years, Denny and Sheri spent time relaxing at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Denny is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sheri Pentecost of Coppell, TX; two children, Sarah (Edward Smith) Pentecost of Coppell, TX and Alexis Pentecost of Osage Beach, MO; three grandchildren: Cambry Smith of Hereford, TX, Tristen Smith of Hereford, TX and Elizabeth Smith of Coppell, TX. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Denny is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Mildred Pentecost, and his sister Phyllis Morris.
