Jeffrey Lance Humphrey
16 August, 1962 – 29 February, 2020
Jeffrey Lance Humphrey, born august 16, 1962, went home to be with the Lord on February 29, 2020. Jeff was born and raised in Irving, TX. He graduated from MacArthur High School in 1980. After graduating high school, Jeff joined the U.S. Navy at age 17. He highly valued his time serving. These four years shaped and formed the way Jeff saw the world and lived his life. Jeff later attended DeVry University. Throughout his life, Jeff always loved music. From singing in his first grade talent show, to buying his first guitar at age 16, to touring as the Dixie Chicks’ sound manager as a young adult, to eventually landing at and wholeheartedly pouring into Sound Productions as Executive Vice President, Jeff both appreciated and experienced music in a way that was so beautifully rare. Jeff’s ability to hear the layers in music also translated in his ability to listen to and truly hear people. Jeff listened deeply and always hear more than what was said. He had the ability to make others feel safe, welcome, and never alone. His capacity for empathy was greater than that of most. Jeff’s proudest moments in life were the birth of his daughter Madison and the birth of his sun Gunnar. More than anything, Jeff loved being a father. His children always came first. He taught them not to be afraid of the world and to say yes to opportunities and adventure. He showed them both how to feel and to be strong and reminded them that those two things were not mutually exclusive of one another. In July of 2019, Jeff proposed to the love of his life Krisi Lucchese. He was her best friend and part of her heart. Jeff was passionate in all he did. Though his time here on earth came too abruptly to an end, the lessons he taught and the love he poured into those around him will continue to have lasting impacts. May his memory be a blessing, and may we take comfort in knowing that he is now experiencing love in its absolute fullest form, wrapped in the arms of Love Himself. Jeff is survived by his fiancée Kristi Lucchese, his children Madison and Gunnar Humphrey, his parents Dolores and Michael Kopasec, his brother Jay Humphrey, his sister Kimberli Joffe, and many more who loved him very, very much. Jeff was preceded in death by his father James Humphrey. In lieu of flowers, Jeff wished that donations would be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

I have so many memories of Jeff. We met in the 70’s at school and were fast friend’s. We had a mutual interest in music and art and could talk to each other about either for hours. Fortunately I had the chance to spend time with Jeff in the past few years. This was after many years of not talking to each other. When we met up it was as if no time had passed at all. We talked for hours about the same things we talked about so many years ago. He was very special and talented with a great sense of humor. He will be missed greatly and never forgotten. My sympathies to all who knew Jeff and to his family. Lastly, I attached a photo of a picture Jeff mailed to me many years ago when he was in the navy, sporting his trusty Rickenbacker bass guitar. On the back of the photo he wrote “Orlando Florida, March 1982”. I have always treasured this photo and have somehow managed not to lose it after all these years. Time flies
