Joyce was born in San Antonio, Texas to Herbert and Christine Bukowsky on March 1, 1955. Joyce enjoyed spending time in her garden, creating an outdoor space that was beautiful and inviting for all. Joyce was always looking for a new project or idea to make her own: one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture, creative wall art, or even her coveted hand-drawn doodles set Joyce apart from the rest. Joyce pursued a career in marketing and graphic design, allowing her to utilize her creative mind and keen artistic abilities on a variety of projects. A devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend, Joyce found great joy in nurturing others. Joyce was involved in Team in Training, fundraising for cancer research for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. A true light of the world, Joyce brightened the lives of those around her with her brilliant smile, quick wit, and selfless, never-ending love for others. Joyce was a dedicated Christian, sharing her love for Jesus with those around her. She fought valiantly against Multiple Myeloma for over 12 years, undergoing a variety of treatments, chemotherapies, and clinical trials. Towards the end of her journey, Joyce felt a sense of peace knowing that she would be with Jesus.
Joyce is preceded in death by her father, Herbert Bukowsky.
Joyce is survived by her daughters Aubrey and Katie (David); siblings Carl (Stacie), Shirley (Doug), Kathy (Robert), Clifton (Claire), and Glenn; mother Christine; grandchildren Nolan and Braden; and numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
Pallbearers will be Carl Bukowsky, Clifton Bukowsky, Glenn Bukowsky, Clif Bukowsky II, Colton Bukowsky, David Paulsen, Nolan Sanders, and Braden Tijerina.
In lieu of flowers, Joyce and her family request donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in her name. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to VNA Hospice, Darlings Homecare, Team In Training, Texas Oncology, and First Baptist Church at the Fields.
