Raymond Vela Mendias Jr.

Raymond Vela Mendias, Jr., 79 passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at his home in Coppell, Texas. He was born on February 11, 1936 to Raymond and Betty Mendias. He was a graduate of Adamson High School. Raymond was in the Air Force from 1956-1959 and Air Force Reserves from 1959-1966.

Raymond had a lifelong passion for baseball. He played actively until the age of 40, coached many boys through the years including major league players but his greatest coaching joy was his grandsons. He loved watching his grandsons play sports as well as his great grandchildren’s sports and activities. He enriched many, many lives with his thoughtfulness and willingness to help others.

Raymond is survived by wife Patricia King Mendias, daughter Vicki Harvey and her husband Scott, daughter Donna Kolberg and her husband Jeff, grandsons Aaron Harvey, Jordan Harvey and wife Adrrienne, Koley Kolberg with Haley Kasper-Pryseski, Kelly Kolberg, greatgrandchildren Peyton, Jake, Ava, Parker, and Luke Harvey. Other survivors are brother Charlie Mendias and sister Lenora Randerson and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents Raymond and Betty Mendias and brother Rudy Mendias.
