Sandra was born to Hyman and Estelle Kotin in Buffalo, New York, on July 12, 1940, and had a brother, Bobby, who preceded her in death. She met her husband, Dr. Robert J. Palma, Sr., while volunteering at a local hospital. After many years of living in New York, she and Robert moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, where she lived for 36 years. While there, she helped to run an Italian restaurant with her husband, after his retirement. After her husband’s death, she moved to Coppell, TX. to live with her daughter, Katie, for the last 10 years of her life.
Sandra was a homemaker and made the best spaghetti and meatballs on the block (she insisted everyone who came to her house ate, even if they were not hungry). She refused to have anyone leave with an empty stomach! She enjoyed anything trivia- from Trivia Pursuit to Cash Cab. Sandra was obsessed with adult coloring books-she could spend up to 5 hours at a time immersing herself in them. She was so proud of her coloring abilities, and she always was so happy to show them off. Her other favorite hobby was cooking.
Sandra loved talking to people, whether it was relatives, her children’s friends, or even strangers. She had the biggest heart and would do anything she could for anyone. She had the best stories from her childhood and young adult life, and she would deliver them with such enthusiasm. Sandra also had a special place in her heart for dogs, as they brought so much happiness to her life.
What her loved ones will miss about her most is her unconditional love, beautiful soul, and a contagious laugh. In her later years, Sandra loved telling jokes and being goofy with her children and grandchildren. Despite living in a 70 y/o body, she always said she felt like she was much younger than her age.
Sandra is survived by her children, Laurie Kirk (son-in-law Jeff), Robert J. Palma, Jr., and twins Katie and Michael Palma (daughter-in-law Elizabeth). She is a grandmother (always referred to as their “Oma”) of: Nicole, Madison, Payton, Devon, Kayla, Mandy, Gracie, and John. She is a great-grandmother of David and Faith Choque, in addition to having three 4-legged, furry grand “dogs”: Elmo, Stella-Roo, and Gouda. Sandra is also survived by Morrie (great-nephew), Judy and Diane (her sister-in-laws, and Richard (her brother-in-law).
She will be terribly missed by all of those who were blessed to have crossed her path, or were a part of her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can made to: Operation Kindness in Carrollton, TX.
Funeral Services for Sandra will be Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 1pm at Rolling Oaks Funeral HOme in Coppell.
