On July 6, 2016 Alfred "Big Al" Turner Sr. was called upon to come home to spend eternal peace with his Lord. He came to us February 19, 1958 as the oldest of four children of Sgt. First Class Fred and Francis Turner in Mineral Wells, Texas.
“The world and its desires pass away but the man who does the will of God lives forever.” 1 John 2:17 NIV.
Alfred graduated from Princess Ann High School, Virginia Beach in 1976. He joined the Army in 1980 and began a military career serving as a soldier for his country that spanned twenty-two years and included a tour in Iraq. He followed in his father's footsteps and achieved the rank of Sgt. First Class. At the conclusion of his military career he attended Texas A&M where he received his Bachelor's in Information Technology and went on to earn a Master's Degree. In 2007 he began a new phase of his career as an IT Specialist with the Warrior Transition Unit.
Alfred and his beautiful wife Denise were childhood sweethearts who married on November 15, 1980 and upheld a loving marriage for over thirty-five years.
Among those who preceded his deliverance from this earthly life Russell and Francenner Pinckney, Fred and Frances Turner, Aunt Pearl, Aunt Williemae, Uncle Joe, Uncle John, Uncle Frank, and his cousin Diane.
Among the host of those awaiting the imminent and inevitable reunion with him in glory are his wife Denise Turner; his two sons Alfred Turner Jr. ( Sparkle) and Andrew Turner ( Anastasia); his siblings Albert Turner, Arletha Turner, and Abigail Burgess; his lifelong brothers in faith Luther Eure Jr. and John Burgess; his special partner in pranks Judy Eure, his close friend Ms. Mable McPherson, his Aunt Dorothy Pollard, his cousins Terrance, Darnell, Valerie, Daryl, Sharon, Lynda, Tina, Anthony, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Alfred's laugh and smile was contagious among all those who surrounded him. He had a caring soul and a commanding presence which touched the lives of many people. Although his love for us will never perish we will miss having him by our side.
