

Graveside services and interment for Denise Betty Potter will be held Friday July 24th at 11am at the Central Texas Veteran’s Cemetery in Killeen. Denise Betty Van Nest Potter, long time resident of Copperas Cove, died Saturday July 11, 2015 at her home. She was born September 27, 1950 in Johnson City, NY. Her father was in the military and she lived in Italy and Japan, but the family always called the Copperas Cove area home. She graduated from Copperas Cove High School. She married David Potter on April 17, 1971 at Grace United Methodist Church in Cove. They were stationed in Germany several times, eventually returning to Copperas Cove. No matter where they went, she and Dave had their beloved dogs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents Clarence and Barbara “Bobbie” Van Nest; and her brothers Danny and David; as well as many dachshunds and German shepherds. She is survived by her brother Dean and wife Carolyn of Alice, Texas, several nephews and close friends. She is also survived by her dachshund babies: Ludwig, Sam, Smoky, and Bandit. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Copperas Cove Animal Shelter, 1601 North 1st Street, Copperas Cove, TX 76522 or the animal shelter of your choice.
