

Doug was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas. During the Korean War, he served in the Army for two years stationed in El Paso and Norfolk, VA. He was a Wood Pattern Maker by trade for 43 years. Following his retirement he participated in Sojourners, a group of Christian travelers, helping small churches, children’s homes, and schools. He was proud that he and his wife traveled to 47 states and Canada primarily with this ministry. He was a member of Western Hills Church of Christ, Temple, TX and worked with the Love of Christ Food Pantry. He previously served as an elder at the Impact Houston Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 63 years; his children Barbara Brown of Ft. Worth; Virginia Brown of Tampa, FL; Douglas Brown Jr. and wife Laurie of San Antonio; and Richard Brown and wife Karen of Copperas Cove. His grandchildren Jennifer Pantoja, Melinda, Isaac, Benjamin, Anthony, Andrew, Levi and Reuben Brown, and great grandchildren Joseph and Ava Pantoja. He is also survived by his brother, P.D. Brown and wife Joyce of Lumberton, TX; and sister, Raye Dorrell and husband Dwain of Beaumont, TX. He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Franklin.
A memorial service will be held at the Impact Houston Church of Christ in Houston, TX at 10:30 am on July 9, 2016.
A visitation was held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 6 PM – 8 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Copperas Cove. A 11:00 AM Graveside services was held on Friday, July 1, 2016 in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
