Elvira White Contreras

Elvira was born March 23, 1919 in Terlingua, TX to Daniel and Eustolia Moreno White. She was raised in Terlingua, Shafter and in Marfa where she graduated High School. She married Ventura Contreras in 1941 in Arizona and after many moves with the military, settled in Copperas Cove in 1962. Mrs. Contreras was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Copperas Cove.

Mrs. Contreras passed away Sunday, December 26th in a Killeen hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ventura, on November 18, 2007; her parents, three brothers, Daniel, Tom and Albert and five sisters, Stella, Anita, Josephina, Ida and Margie.

Survivors include six sons, Ben Contreras of Sedalia, CO; Dimas Contreras of Fort Stockton, Robert Contreras of Austin, Dan and Roland Contreras, both of Arlington and David Contreras also of Austin; one daughter, Linda Jowers of Charleston, SC; 16 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Services for Elvira W. Contreras, 91, of Copperas Cove will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010 in the Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm with a Rosary at 7 p.m.
