Jeanette “JJ” Jones was born in Coal Creek, Tennessee on March 23, 1937 to Millard Woodrow and Virginia Kerr Massengill. On December 28, 1955 she married Arvel Ray Jones in Georgia. She passed away on April 15, 2019.
A fun-loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her family and her friends. She loved for her grandson, Dillyn more than life. He was her world. She barely missed any of his soccer or football games, you could usually find her sitting in the bleachers cheering him on. She enjoyed making her delicious carrot cakes for all who would ask her to. Everyone knew her as the “carrot cake lady” and were quick to always ask her to make one for them for special occasions. She loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys and was an avid Tennessee Lady Vols basketball watcher, as she played basketball while she was in school. She was always on the go to play bingo with her longtime friend, Cathy Leslie, which included many trips to Oklahoma to go play all weekend. She also enjoyed the travels all while being a military wife. She was a avid bowler early on and went to state championships several times with the same group of ladies that she enjoyed being around.
Jeanette was predeceased by her loving husband of 38 years, Arvel R. Jones. She was also predeceased by her parents, Millard Woodrow Massengill and Virginia Kerr Massengill, her sister and brother-in-law Doloras and Horase Goebel, brother-in-law Harold Kirby. Jeanette is survived by her son Michael R. Jones and wife Cindy, daughter Donna L. Herring and husband Michael L. Loven. Her only grandchild Dillyn L. Herring. Her sisters Martha Kirby of Florida, Kim Pak and husband Paul of New Jersey. Nephews Kent Kirby, Christopher Kirby, Scott Goebel, Andrew Pak. Nieces Jennifer Pak and Amy Pak.
