She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on November 11, 1944. Rosaura had various jobs she worked at to take care of her family. But her best job was when she had the opportunity to work for Reynolds Metals Co. in Ingelside, Texas. She started off as a laborer, working in the tunnels of boxite. She moved up to Dock Security Guard, where she met Loren D. Lee, an electrician at the plant. They started dating and as things usually go they did eventually get married. They were married for 35 years before his passing in 2022.
She had a passion for spontaneity (picking up and going on a day trip to see the Spanish Missions in our area) life, she was artistic (loved quilting), loved playing games with her grandchildren (that she usually cheated at), she also loved to travel and she was very strong willed. She definitely loved being a grandmother to her 12 grandchildren, and great-grandmother to her 12 great-grandchildren. And she loved animals and had many over the years, including baby squirrels that fell out of their nests when storms blew them down.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings: Roger Colmenero, Mario Colmenero, Elizabeth Rae Pike, Maria De Rosario Colmenero, Fernando Colmenero, and Nina Alcala’.
She is lovingly survived by one brother: Richard (Ricky) Ochoa; her five children: Margie Garcia Avila, Rita Garcia, Ruby Peck, Charles H Garcia II (Chuck), and Vanessa Hemingway, 12 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. And numerous cousins and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home located at 211 W. Ave B, Copperas Cove, Tx., 76522, on Monday June 24, 2024 at 10am. The interment will be at 2pm at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery located at 11463 Tx-195, Killeen, Tx., 76542.
