

Susan Dianne Burns, 71 of Copperas Cove Texas passed away Friday, December 22, 2023. Susan was born to James and Elsie(Stevens) Cantrell April 21, 1952 in Douglasville, Georgia. Susan was the third born child of James and Elsie.
As a child Susan also lived in Alabama and Louisiana before settling in Fort Worth, Texas. It was there where she met the love of her life, Gerald Burns. They lived in the same neighborhood. Their love story started in 1963 and were married February 23, 1968. The couple had two children, Christie and Eric. The family lived all over the US and in Germany while Gerald served in the US Army. The family eventually moved back to Texas, in Copperas Cove. They were married just shy of fifty six years.
Susan retired after thirty years of service as a Chief Budget Director for Fort Hoods' Moral Welfare & Recreation. Susan was the driving force of the family. She was a military wife and mother. She loved to read as it was her escape in life. She liked to bowl and play trivia. She loved to cook. Susan loved her dogs and plants. She was known for telling it like it is.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Wade Cantrell and Sister Mary Merrell.
Susan is survived by her husband Gerald. Her daughter Christy Hollandsworth, grandson Joshua and great grandson Harley, son Eric Burns, wife Heather and grandsons Jacob and Gavin, brothers Richard Cantrell and Steven Judd and sister Betty Wright, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service for Susan will be held Friday, January 12, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, 211 W Ave B, Copperas Cove, Texas 76522.
