Ila Faye Dodd, 97, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Dogwood Assisted Living Center in Corinth, Mississippi. There will be a Celebration of Life Service held Friday, September 16, 2022 at McPeters Funeral Directors Inc. Chapel beginning at 2:00 pm. A visitation for friends will begin one hour prior to service time with Bro. Waring Porter officiating.
Ila was born in Arkansas to the late Roy L. and Lena Mae Ryall Carter on December 13, 1924. She was one of the first female employees of the Standard Oil Company and later married Charles B. Dodd. She spent her life as an exceptional homemaker for her family. She was a lifelong active member of the Macon Road Presbyterian Church in Memphis, TN. She was an avid cross-stitching master and spent numerous hours making blankets and throws for her family. When she was not cross stitching or studying the Bible, she was an amazing cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Dodd; her parents; one brother, R.L. Carter; and two sisters, Alma Taylor and Mary Nell Cotten.
She is survived by two children; Chuck Dodd (Jennifer) and Linda Moffitt (Clyde); one brother, James Carter (Helen); two grandchildren, Chris Moffitt (Patricia) and Lisa Moffitt (Nick); and four great grandchildren, Hallie Moffitt, Jackson Moffitt, Charlie Moffitt, and Zachary Moffitt.
