
A long time resident of Corinth she was a career teacher and librarian in the public school system following her graduation from Blue Mountain College, Bowling Green College, and receiving a Masters Degree from Mississippi State University. She was a faithful and active member and a former Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist Church in Corinth. A founding member of Corinth's Little Garden Club. She also participated in various other civic activities.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Furtick (Vera) of Sarasota, Fl. and Jim Furtick (Diane) of Tupelo, Ms.; grandhchildren, Katie Furtick of Tallahassee, Fl., Sally Furtick of Eureka, Ca., malloy Lacktman (Nate) of Tampa, Fl., Johanna WOod of St. Petersburg, Fl., Hannah Dreher (Jeff) of Cleveland, Ms., and Carey Estes (Holly Senter, fiancee) of Brooklyn, NY; and great grandchildren, Colby Dreher and Oliver Lacktman.
Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 26th at McPeters Funeral Home in Corinth by Reverend Dennis Smith of First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 501 Main Street, Corinth, MS 38834 or a charity of your choice.
Visitation will be Monday, October 25, 2010 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
