Celebration of Life Service for Marvin James, 82, are set for 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Jonathan Wilbanks officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church Cemetery.
Family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 am until service time.
Marvin died May 23, 2018 at his residence. He was born March 20, 1936 in Alcorn Co. MS. to the late Leland James and Bertha Elam James. He was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Brach’s Candy Co. in Chicago, IL. after 25 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Vertie Mae James; brothers, Arlin James, Earnest “Cotton” James, David James; sisters, Ann James, Ruth Beasley, Dorothy Glidewell, Lettie Vee Switcher, Zula Mask.
Marvin is survived by his wife, of 63 years Lela Morrow James; sons, Travis James, Billy (Martha) James; daughter, Regina (Robert) Wagner; sisters, Atri Dildy, Doris (Daryl) Austin, Emma Jo (Sanford) Hudson; sister-in-law, Betty James; grandchildren, Shawn Gordon, Donny (Michelle) James, Jason James, Brittney James; 6 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Sammy James, Dylan Sanders, Don Wheeler, Tommy Crum, Showny Boggs, Mack Wheeler, Wayne Wheeler.
