On Saturday, January 31, 2026, Amy May Kathleen Small (born March 27, 1985) passed away peacefully at her home in Cornwall. The Apple of her late mother Kathleen Legault's eye and the beloved daughter of Gordon Small, Amy was a light to her family.
Cherished sister of Matthew, Christopher, and Sarah; beloved sister-in-law of Dariusz, Erin, and Kristian; and loving auntie to Olivia, Grant, Natalie, and Lana. Amy will also be fondly remembered by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Amy was born with cerebral palsy and had the most beautiful heart. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Secondary School in Cornwall. She found joy in car rides, playing ball, swimming, puzzles, music, and horseback riding. Amy was an animal lover. She had a bright smile and a contagious giggle that could lift the spirits of everyone around her. For the past ten years, Amy resided at St. Joseph's Villa, where she touched the lives of both residents and care staff.
Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Patel, Meghan O'Brien, and the incredible care team at the Villa. A very special thank you to Diana and Dan.
Forever thankful to Courtney, Ari, Shawna, Stacey, Shirley, Audrey, Liz and Michelle her amazing friends, Tina, Sue, Karen, Lisa, and Holly, who over the years made significant contributions to Amy's wellbeing. Finally, thank you to Theresa Wattie and to SDG Developmental Services and Community Living for providing support to our family for decades, and thank you to the Edelweiss Riding Academy Therapeutic Program.
Arrangements entrusted to Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, West Branch, 20 Seventh St. W., (613-932-8482). A private gathering of Amy's family will take place at a later date. Donations in Amy's honour may be made to Hospice Cornwall.
