It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Bennett “Bunny” King, having passed away at his home on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
Bunny was born on November 27, 1964 to the late Louie E. and Irene King (Swamp), where he was raised in the District of Kana:takon.
In his youth, Bunny was an avid boxing and lacrosse fan. He boxed for many years with the Akwesasne Boxing Club, where he won many titles and was an eventual Golden Gloves Boxing champion. He also played lacrosse for local Akwesasne teams.
Bunny worked construction and iron for many years with the Local 440 Union and Local Ironworkers 765 Union, working mostly in New York City and New Jersey, and took occasional jobs throughout the country.
In his spare time, Bunny was the one and only Chargers fan in Akwesasne, staying loyal to the team until the very end. He was also a life-long fan of Muhammad Ali, who he regularly quoted. Bunny had many other interests like hiking, being in the outdoors, going to concerts with his wife and loved ones, and sitting around the pool or bonfire with his friends and family catching up and visiting.
Bunny is survived by the love of his life, Renee, who he wed on November 2, 2019. They enjoyed many years of love and amazing adventures together; his children, Collin and Laila “Bugzy”; his siblings Janice, Eugene, Delores (Steve), Donna (Harris), Elaine (Les), Ernie (Alice), Tassie, and Larry (Sheila), and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
