On the morning of September 15th, 2025, a beloved wife, wonderful mother & grandmother, and an amazing woman left us on a journey to once again be reunited with her late husband. Catherine “Kate” Margaret Bush (nee MacKenzie), born in Williamstown on Friday, October 22nd, 1937, passed away at the age of 87, surrounded by family in her final days.
She was predeceased by her husband: D’Arcy Lorne Burton Bush and her 12 siblings, survived by her children: Susan (Rick), Barbara (Barry), Jeffery (Marge), and Rodney (Naomi) and her grandchildren: Catherine, Zachary, Tayler (Bill), and Abigail. She will be missed by them, by her many nieces & nephews, and numerous more.
Kate lived a long and meaningful life, filled with hard work, laughter, friendship, and joy. She shared 66 beautiful years of marriage with her husband D’Arcy on their farm in North Lunenburg, and a lifetime of love and hugs with her children & grandchildren. She also shared her life lessons and learnings with countless young people, with her and D’Arcy fostering nearly 60 children over 45 years, helping them to find their path in life.
They say it takes a village to raise a child. For so many Kate was that village – a source of love, guidance, belonging, kindness, patience, and care. Her heart was a home, and her devotion as a mother, grandmother, aunt, and foster parent has shaped so many lives.
She was kind, thoughtful and deeply loving. She gave without hesitation, cared without condition, and left behind a legacy that will live on in her family, her community, and the countless lives she touched.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff from Quinn House at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre in Cornwall, for their care and compassion.
Visitation will be at Chalmers United Church (2 Church Street, Finch, ON) on Monday, September 22nd, 2025, from 1:00 pm until time of Funeral Service at 2:00 pm.
