Colette Boivin, of Ingleside, Ontario, passed away on May 26, 2026, at the age of 81. Born November 13, 1944, in Cornwall, Ontario, Colette will be remembered with deep respect and lasting affection by all who knew her. Her life was marked by a spirited sense of adventure—an openness to new experiences and a willingness to pour herself wholeheartedly into the people and pursuits she loved.
Colette was the beloved wife of the late Marcel D. Boivin. She was the loving mother of Larry Murphy (Sarah) of Guelph and Shelley Price (Jack) of Cornwall, and step-mother of Paul Boivin (Marie) of Havelock and Monique Engert (Mike) of Prince George, and the late Louise Boivin. She was a proud grandmama of Dana, Mitchell, Cameron, Steven, Travis, Jennifer, Erich, Tyler, Jean-Francois, Hunter, Jake and a great grandmama of Mason, Jacob, Aaron, Brody, Ensley and Shayla.
Colette was the dear sister of Claire McNamara (late Mike) of Glen Walter and Paul Samson (Paulette) of Cornwall. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward Samson and Cécile (née Deguire) Samson.
A woman of creativity and quiet determination, Colette was a published writer, and her grandson created the cover of one of her books—an enduring family collaboration she held close. Her care for others was also stitched into daily life: she created blankets for all of her family, each one a tangible expression of warmth, patience, and devotion. She especially enjoyed the camaraderie and lively tradition of playing bid euchre, whether at the seniors center or with friends, where her enthusiasm and presence were always part of what made the game feel like home.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Home West branch (613-932-8482). A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Cornwall Hospice or C.H.E.O would be appreciated by the family. Messages of condolence may be left at www.lahaiesullivan.ca.
