OBITUARY

Douglas G. Anderson

11 September, 1942 – 4 May, 2026
IN THE CARE OF

Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Home - West Branch

Douglas Anderson was born in Kingston, Ontario on September 11, 1942, and passed peacefully with family by his side at Cornwall Hospice on May 4, 2026, at the age of 83.

Doug was, above all, a devoted family man whose greatest joy came from the time spent with those he loved. His family was the center of his world, and he took immense pride in supporting, guiding, and cherishing each one of them.

He was the cherished son of John Alan (Andy) Anderson and Janet (Macfarlane) Anderson. Beloved husband of Lynwen (née Thomas) Anderson. He was a loving father of Shannon Anderson of Kingston and Ryan Anderson (Shareen) of Hinton Alberta. He was a cherished grandpa of Kylie, Grace, Sofie, Douglas, Sykora and great grandfather of Mylie and Kallan. He was a dear brother of George Anderson (Kim) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Janice Cox (late Derry) of Mississauga and the late Arthur Anderson (late Helen) St.Albert, Alberta.

Doug was a dedicated educator whose influence was spread throughout the education system. He was a principal in several schools in the Upper Canada District School Board and served with compassion, consistency, and devotion. He was a mentor to several great administrators and teachers who were able to use his guidance to master their skills. His educational influence also spread throughout his family with several members of his family learning from his determination and dedication to become teachers and follow his lead in the education system.

Doug was an avid golfer who enjoyed spending his free time at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club. He enjoyed the companionship of his friends at the course and relished the opportunities to take some money off the boys. He was also a sport enthusiast and enjoyed teaching his family and watching all the sports that were available from: hockey, baseball, golf, football, Nascar, and horse racing. Doug was always ready to talk about the shortcomings of the Bluejays and Maple Leafs. Talking about sports was always one if his favorite topics of discussion and his knowledge was unending.

The family will be in attendance at Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Home West Branch 20 Seventh Street West (613-932-

8482) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday May 13, 2026. Funeral services will be held privately. As expressions of sympathy donations to Hospice Cornwall would be appreciated by the family. Messages of condolence may be left at www.lahaiesullivan.ca.
