In 1951, Joe left Italy in for a better life in Canada. He decided to settled in Cornwall, drawn by the banks of the St. Lawrence River where he loved to go fishing. He was an avid outdoorsman and a passionate environmentalist. Joe was active member of the Cornwall Lunker Club and loved giving his time to the annual St. Lawrence River cleanup. Joe spent many of his days tending to his “lot”, his impressive garden and apple orchard, where he loved to entertain and feed family and friends. The recognition he received for his tree grafting at Upper Canada Village and his volunteerism with the Cornwall River Institute were some of his proudest moments.
