

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Gordon Hickey, at his home on October 10, 2025, in his 93rd year. Born in Aultsville, Ontario, on July 25, 1933. Gordon was the beloved son of the late Walter and Eva Hickey.
Gordon will be forever remembered by his devoted wife Merilyn (née Jones), with whom he shared a long and loving marriage. Cherished father of Cynthia, Steven (Dee), and Heather (Chris Seguin). Proud grandfather of Jennifer, Steven, and Aaron, and great-grandfather of Ellie and Jack. Gordon is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was predeceased by his brothers Elwin, Walter, John, and David, his sister May Fitzpatrick and sister-in-law, Norma (late Frank Johnson).
Gordon worked for over 30 years at Domtar Fine Papers, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. Outside of work, he was an avid sports enthusiast and loving husband and father. In his younger years, Gordon’s athletic talent shone brightly—he won numerous trophies as a sprinter and remained a loyal fan of sports throughout his life.
Gordon will be remembered for his quiet strength, good humour, and unwavering love for his family. His warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew him.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Poilly, the staff at Carefor Hospice Cornwall, and the compassionate nurses and PSWs from Bayshore Home Care for their kind and dedicated support.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to M. John Sullivan Funeral Home, 613-938-1039. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, November 8, 2025, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at Trinity Anglican Church, located at 105 Second Street West, Cornwall. A funeral service will be held immediately thereafter. In lieu of flowers, donations to Carefor Hospice Cornwall or Trinity Anglican Church, Cornwall, would be deeply appreciated.
