In Loving Memory of James Francis Schultz
James, aka Jimmy, was born on November 23, 1984 in Syracuse, NY. He spent the majority of his childhood in Akwesasne before moving to the Montreal area as a teenager. James passed away at the young age of 20 in September 2005 under tragic circumstances.
James is survived by his mother, Joleen Rose Marie Bigtree, his grandmother, Sandra Jean Lazore of Syracuse, and his 4 siblings, Brandon Joseph Bigtree, Christopher Ryan Schultz, Joseph Eugene Coffey (Deserae Lavare), and Julie Elizabeth Ladue (Kyle Terrance), all from Akwesasne.
James was predeceased by his father, James Francis Schultz Sr, his Uncle Rodney “Tom” Martin-Pierce, his Uncle Terrance William Bigtree, his Great Grandmother, Rose Bora and Great Grandfather, Lyle “Man” Pierce Sn, his Great Uncle, Lyle “Man” Pierce Jr. and his Great Great Grandfather, Rusty Tehawehron Oakes, as well as several cousins, all from Akwesasne.
James is also survived by Dana Leigh and Larry V. Thompson, their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in both Akwesasne and Kahnawake.
James will equally be missed by his family in Montreal, Ron and Elizabeth Reymond as well as their 3 children, Robert, Sean and Tara Reymond.
James was known for his sense of honour, his kindness, his gentle heart and his fun sense of humor. Any given day was extra special when it was spent with James.
The service will take place on July 23, 2021, at 11:30 am, at the Pierce Family Cemetery on the Pierce Property adjacent to Harbour Road, Cornwall Island.

Please note that as a result of Covid regulations, the graveside celebration is by invitation only. However, there will be a gathering at 11 am at the cross roads on Cornwall Island to follow James by horse and carriage to the Native North American Travelling College located at 1 Ronathahon:ni Lane. The funeral service attendees will then continue on to the Pierce Family Cemetery. Following the funeral service, there will be a reception at the Native North American Travelling College.
