This is the letter written about  Nanny from Jenna Lalonde
You know Kathy Amell, Aunt Kathy and Nanny to some was a real blessing. Most times when you seen her she was in a good mood, smiling, and over all enjoying the life she had. Nanny had survived so much so we always expected her to make a full recovery. But God had another plan. Saturday night at around midnight I went upstairs to find my Grandma. She told me Nan wasn't doing good and mom and dad went to Ottawa. I knew with her current condition it wasn't good. I cried till 3am and eventually got up at 9am to the news I didn't want to hear or believe. Honestly I still can't believe it. I just keep thinking this isn't real and she will come back because she always had. My relationship with my Nanny was pretty good. Since I was a toddler... NO, a newborn I spent almost every single day with her. Sometimes we just sat there all day taking in each others company. I seriously don't think I went a day until she went into the hospital without talking or texting her. When I was younger I slept over every Saturday then went to church with Nanny and Papa the next morning. I spent so much time with her at both houses that she had in my lifetime I can probably map out both of them from top to bottom. Nanny was always the one I went to if something was bothering me and she always made me feel better. Nanny was the one I would go to if I was depressed, so as you can imagine the past month or so I wanted her more than ever!  Some memories I keep going back to is obviously sleeping over on Saturdays then going to church because I slept there just SO much. I remember Nanny promised me she would help me pick out my wedding dress and would hold my future daughter Marcy which I priorly decided I will name after her and her family. I remember going to a Carrie Underwood concert with my Aunt Margaret and Nanny. Nanny and I designed a shirt I would wear to the concert. I remember the countless Christmas's we spent together, and the Niagara Falls trip we took as a whole family. Kaylee and Alyssa and Alex and Brady probably have some amazing memories too that they will never forget. The most recent memory I have of her before she left us is making a scrap book for my Mom and Dad's anniversary and sewing badges to my camp blanket. These memories I know I will never forget. I know she holds great memories with each of us and I hope she will live on in our hearts. She loved everyone here and is smiling down on us saying "don't worry about me". God knew what he was doing even though we don't. And lastly remember every moment with someone is a blessing. Don't take it for granted, and say "I love you" often just in case those are the last words you say to someone you love!

Thinking of you is easy  I do it everyday, missing you is the heartache that never goes away...     miss you very much already but I know you are safe in heaven with God! Kathy. . If love could have saved you.. you would have lived forever. It is very heartwarming to see your friends and family gathered to celebrate the life you faught and sharing memories from the past. Katherine was one of the sweetest, kindest, and warmest people I have ever known.We met at work years ago. After the mill closed I was always glad to see her any time we met up in the stores. Dear Amell family, I am truly sorry for your loss of such a dear person.

My sincere condolences to Chantal, Chad, Stephen and the entire family. I was saddened to hear of your loss. Katherine certainly fought a very courageous battle with all her health issues but continued to have that terrific smile that is captured in  your chosen photograph.

I am so sorry for your loss.  What I remember about Cathy is her ever present smile.  She had a very kind heart.  It was a pleasure and honor to have known her.  I will remember her and will pray for all of you.

I have had the honor of knowing you and calling you my second mom for over half my life, I can still remember you introducing me as your daughter-in-law to be when I was 16 and dating Chad for 1 month. I hope that in my lifetime I can show just a small portion of the courage and strength that I have seen you have during all of the difficult  times you have had over the years.
A part of us all will be empty and ache forever, but I will take care of your baby boy, your little girl (and best friend) and the love of your life...I promise!

I don't know how to go on without you mom! You are not only my mom, but my best friend. Jenna and Brady love you so much and it is hard to console them when I can not find comfort myself. To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.

But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
