It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Lillian M. Akins (née Morin), who passed away peacefully after a very short battle with cancer on Monday, May 18, 2026, at the age of 83. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
She was a woman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid reader and a fan of a good game, she could often be found enjoying a lively round of bingo, playing Yahtzee, or quietly working on her latest crochet project. She had a fun-loving spirit and thoroughly enjoyed her visits to the local casino—trips that were filled with fond memories, first shared with David, and later continued with her daughter, Mellanie.
She loved the great outdoors and the peacefulness of camping. Just last year, she enjoyed a wonderful trip to the East Coast of Canada, creating beautiful memories along the way.
Above all else, her family was her entire world. She cherished and was always there for everyone who needed her, offering a steady heart and an open door.
She is survived and dearly missed by her children, Jason and Mellanie (Eric); her grandchildren, Justin, Mathieu, and Kora (Jake); and her great-grandchildren, Rowen and Auden. She was also cherished by David’s two daughters, Tammy and Trisha, and their families. She is further survived by her brother, René, and her sister, Suzanne. Her memory will also be kept alive by her beloved Dachshund, Charlie, who brought immense joy and companionship to her days.
She was predeceased by her loving partner, David Seguin; her parents, Wilfrid Morin and Elizabeth Morin (nee Cousineau); her sister, Annette; and her brother, Gerald.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the palliative care team at the Hull hospital for the exceptional and compassionate care they provided to mom in her final days.
Her love, kindness, and presence will be deeply missed but forever celebrated by all who knew her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lahaie & Sullivan West Branch (20 Seventh Street West, Cornwall). A private graveside Celebration of Life will be held on Friday June 12th, 2026, at Notre-Dame Cemetery (17945 South Branch Road, South Stormont) at 11:00 a.m. In memory of Lillian, and as expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
