

BELAND, Louis Paul - At the Cornwall Community Hospital on Monday December 17, 2018 in his 88th year. Pedeceased by his loving wife and best friend of 64 years, Alice (Rupert) Beland (May 18, 2018). Louis served on several Bases across Canada with the RCAF from 1948 to retirement in 1980. While posted in the 4(F) Wing, Germany he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Lieutenant and subsequently retired as a Captain. Sadly missed by his older sister, Molly Gauthier and brother Harvey of Timmins, and his younger sister, Fleurette Piche of Kelowna, BC. Survived by much loved niece Denise MacIvor of Timmins, Wayne McGill (Joanne) and Shawn McGill of Lunenburg. Also survived by several other nieces, nephews and many friends. Predeceased by his parents, George and Pat (Lariviere) Beland and one brother Ronald. Louis made a lasting impression on all who knew him. His kindness, wisdom, and sense of humour will be deeply missed. His last request was that his closest friends get together for a big party to wish him well now that he has embarked on his last voyage. The family extend deepest, sincere thanks to Chateau Cornwall Retirement Residence for the hospitality and care. Also to doctors, nurses at Cornwall Community Hospital for care, comfort and compassion they provided. At Louis request there will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday December 28, 2018 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church at 11am. Rite of Committal, St. Lawrence Valley Cemetery, Long Sault, at a later date. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations to the OSPCA SD&G Branch or the Children‘s Wish Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
