It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of lifelong farmer Mervin John Zummach, with his family by his side, at the Cornwall Community Hospital on July 19th, 2026 at the age of 81 years.
Beloved husband to Barbara Ann (née Rombough) Zummach for over 57 years.
He will be sorely missed by his son David Zummach (Kylie), his daughter Joanne Duprau (Dave) and his sister Diane Gallinger (Wayne). He was a fun Grandpa that will be sadly missed by his seven grandchildren: Chloë, Emmett, Danike, Alexa, Georgia, Aubrey and Arden. He will be fondly remembered by his nephew Keil (Rhea) and his nieces Krista (Christopher) and Leanne. Friends and neighbors will miss his daily stories and jokes.
Predeceased by his parents Orin and Gertrude (née Kuehl) Zummach and his infant son Alan.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the amazing JMP Palliative Team at the Cornwall Community Hospital for their compassionate care in Mervin’s final days.
As per Mervin’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will be in attendance at the Ingleside-Newington United Church, 11 Maple Street, Ingleside, ON, on Friday, July 31, 2026 from 10 a.m. until the time of Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation or Carefor Hospice Cornwall would be appreciated by the family.
