Peggy Anne (Lafortune) Hamel

HAMEL, Peggy – Surrounded by family, Peggy passed peacefully, on Saturday November 11, 2023 at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late Gerard “Gerry” Hamel. Adored mother of Steven Hamel (late Arlene), Cathy McKee (late Gerry), Lisa Charlebois (Raymond) and Ann Massop (Tony). Cherished grandmother of Justin, Andrea, Jenna, Ashley, Barrett and Jalicia. Cherished great grandmother of Dace, Cameron, Hanna, Brady, Abby, Ellie, Liam, Owen, Davis, Asher, Jacob and Noah. Loving daughter of the late Albert and Marie Louise (Gauthier) Lafortune and chosen mother Edith Parisien. Predeceased by her brothers and sisters: Ken Lafortune (late Rita), Roy Lafortune (late Barbara), Leon Parisien (late Mary), Gerald Parisien (late Isabel), Iola Parisien and Lorena Sturgeon (late Asa). Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes West Branch 20 Seventh Street West (613-932-8482). The family will be in attendance on Wednesday November 15, from 11:30 a.m. to the time of Funeral at St. Francis de Sales Church. Service for Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday November 15, 2023 in St. Francis de Sales Church at 1 p.m. Interment St. Lawrence Valley to follow. As expression of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Foundation (leukemia), Canadian Diabetic Association or the Blind Vision would be appreciated by the family.
