Karl passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026, after a sudden and brief illness, at the age of 90. He was deeply loved by his wife, Marilyn (née Girouard). He was predeceased by his son Craig (Claudine Beauregard) and grandson Dylan Young, and is survived by his daughters Colleen (Frederick Morin) and Kelly and his son Kevin. He was Poppa to grandson Connor (Britney Mounce) and great-grandson Riley Young.
Karl was warm, kind, generous and loving man with a deep and abiding love for his family.
Marilyn, his wife of 66 years, was his first and only love and his best friend from the age of six. The sun rose and set with Marilyn. Theirs was the kind of love that truly lasts forever.
Karl’s joy came from his family and friends. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was loved respected and admired by his many nieces and nephews and their children, and was a dad to them all. Karl was in his happy place when surrounded by family and friends. If anyone stopped by to say hello, Karl, most likely dressed in red, would great them with a big hug and say, “Come on in! It is great to see you. What can I get you to drink?”
Karl was a civil engineer and worked for Monenco Engineering in Montreal. True to form, he stayed in touch with many of his coworkers and always looked forward to their get-togethers.
Karl loved to design and build anything. He was often asked to help design an addition to someone’s home, a new deck, as staircase, or whatever project it might be. No project was too small, and each one gave him endless fun.
The family would like to thank the ER and ICU staff at the Cornwall Community Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion. Karl was so appreciative of their care and kindness he called each one who helped him a saint.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
