Beloved brother of Sandra Allbon (Charles) of Victoria Harbour, Ontario, and James Keill (Susan) of Cobourg, Ontario. With Sharon (nee Amell), Roger was father to Jeffery Keill (Teresa) of Carleton Place, Ontario and Catherine Keill (Gordon Gow) of Edmonton, Alberta. Grandfather to Jeffery (Alex) Keill, Elizabeth Keill and Davis Fenichel-Gow. Partner to Vicky Latreille with her children and six grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents John Keill and Pearl Spray Keill (nee Rielly).
A graduate of Cornwall Collegiate Vocational School, and George Brown College, Roger spent many years as an electrician for Cornwall Electric. Known for his sharp wit and for regaling people with his charm, Roger could be found in his favourite coffee shops chatting up just about anyone before heading off in his familiar yellow van to the next worksite. When he was away from work, Roger loved to be active outdoors working in his yard or playing ball, hockey, or on the golf course. During the winter months he would head out with his dog sled team lead by his beloved Chocolate. From his straight A First-Grade report card and for decades after, Roger amassed knowledge and earned college certificates of all kinds as he satisfied his love of learning. For several years after his retirement from Cornwall Electric, Roger also indulged his exploring spirit by hitting the highways seeing sights across North America as a truck driver. He passed that love of people, exploring, and learning to his two children and his grandchildren.
A celebration of Roger’s life and memorial service will take place at 11am, December 10th, 2021 at St. James United Church in Avonmore, Ontario. Burial to follow at Pauls’ Hill Cemetery. People are invited to attend the church service where capacity limitations and Covid protocol will be in affect.
