Over 40 years ago I had the fun filled opportunity to spend some time with Roger at his home and/or cottage while hanging out with Suzanne. It was always a party with many laughs and tons of fun. Only once did I get to see the serious side, as Roger made no bones about protecting his precious daughter Suzanne.
You see Suzanne was off to vacation in Greece and my friend Pat Walsh and I drove Suzanne and her friend to the Montreal Airport in Suzanne's car. We left our car at Roger's house and took the old road down the Quebec side of the river to Montreal. The four of us had purchased a 24 of beer for the trip down but did not get to drink much of it as the QPP stop us and made us put the beer in the trunk. So on the return trip, Pat and I drank a few of the beer and put the empty cans on the floor in the back seat. We parked the car in Roger's driveway, took the remaining beer home with us and stupidly left the empty beer cans on the floor. The next day was very sunny and warm as were the next. When Roger opened the car door he was blown over by the smell of stale beer in the hot car. Roger was not pleased.
Two weeks later when I came to get the car to go to Montreal to retrieve Suzanne Roger let me know that beer and driving didn't mix when his daughter was in the car. I promised 'no beer.' Roger said if I was alone on a snowmobile or back in the wood in an old truck one beer might be ok but not in the circumstances I was in. I got it and Roger returned to his fun-loving self and I made sure I didn't see that look in his eye again. Roger loved his kids!

Chez Suzanne, Norman et toute la famile
My thought prayers and love are with you all. As I remember the stories that Suzanne have told me of ton pere, the phrase"joie de vivre" jumps forth. His spirit continues to live in you and the generations to come.
Tell the stories and live the adventures.
