It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Ronald Marcil at the age of 85 predeceased by his parents Emile et Fernande Marcil.
For 62 beautiful years, Ronald shared his life with his beloved wife, Linda (nee Montroy). Together, they built a family filled with love, strength, and countless cherished memories.
Ronald was an amazing father to Paul Marcil (Sylvie Cayen), Julie Filion (Shawn) and Jean Marcil (Lynn). He was a man we could always turn to for advice, knowing that his words would come with wisdom, humility, patience, and love. He had a calm and gentle nature. He led our family by example, showing us through his actions what it meant to be a good man, a devoted husband, and a loving father.
He was truly the patriarch of our family, the person we looked for guidance, reassurance, and strength. His quiet wisdom and patience were a gift to all of us, and the lessons he taught us will remain with us for the rest of our lives.
But Dad wasn’t always serious. He had a wonderful and witty sense of humour and knew just when to come out with a clever comment. He had a way of making people laugh, often without even trying. Those little moments of humour and the laughter he brought into our lives are memories we will treasure forever.
To his six grandchildren, Daniella Marcil (David Jans), Maxime Marcil, Joshua Filion, Joel Filion, Alix MacDonald (Lawson) and Danika Marcil (Josh Vandrish) was lovingly known as Poppy. Being a grandfather brought him a special kind of joy, and the bond he shared with each of them was something truly special. He was also blessed with one great-granddaughter, Margaret MacDonald who brought another generation of love and happiness into his life.
Ronald loved to fish. He found peace and happiness on the water, enjoying the simple moments that made life meaningful. Those memories will forever be a part of the stories his family shares about him.
Ronald was a humble, patient, kind, and gentle man who was deeply loved by his family and by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He never asked for recognition, but he earned the love and respect of everyone around him.
His greatest legacy is the family he leaves behind and the example he set for all of us.
Dad, you were our strength, our guide, our role model, and the heart of our family.
Poppy, you will be missed beyond words.
Thank you for a lifetime of love, wisdom, patience, and memories. We are who we are because of you, and your love will continue through your children, your six grandchildren, and your great-granddaughter.
Rest peacefully, Dad.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Lahaie & Sullivan, West Branch (20 Seventh Street West, Cornwall) on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00a.m. at Sainte-Thérèse-de-Lisieux Church (1304 Lisieux Street, Cornwall). Interment will follow at Notre-Dame Cemetery (17945 S Branch Road, South Stormont). A luncheon will be held in the reception hall of the church following the interment.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
