OBITUARY

Wendy MacMillan

MACMILLAN, Wendy (née McDonald) – With very heavy hearts we announce the passing of our wife, mother, sister and daughter Wendy MacMillan on July 15, 2020; age of 64 years. Cherished wife of Peter MacMillan and mother of Lindsay Walton (Nathan) and Natalie MacMillan (Jules Foisy Lapointe). Adored grandmother of Gabriel, Garrett, Mariane and Camille. Loving daughter of Enid (née Lundy) McDonald and the late Robert McDonald. Dear sister of Sue Wright (Bill), Sandy McDonald (Chris) and the late Christina Doucette (Vince).

Wendy’s passions were family, community, creation care and dance. She delighted in family – knowing them, supporting them and above all loving them. She strove to be a light in their lives, hoping all would recognize that the strength and courage she demonstrated throughout the challenges in her life came from her Lord and Savior, a Light they too can share.

The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it… Psalm 24:1

Wendy’s belief in Community and Creation Care led to her encouraging and coaching all around her to better understand the need to protect our environment. She was an example of how everyone in their daily lives could honour creation. Wendy served for many years as a volunteer on Halton Region’s Water and Waste Committees, as well as serving on Milton, Ontario’s Canada Day Committee. Dance was a lifetime passion and joy for Wendy. Wherever she was, whatever she was doing, in her heart she danced.

Wendy is much loved and will be missed by many family and friends. Funeral arrangements under the care and direction of LAHAIE AND SULLIVAN, CORNWALL FUNERAL HOME, WEST BRANCH, 20 Seventh Street West, (613-932-8482).

As expressions of sympathy, Memorial Donations to A Rocha Canada -1620 192nd Street, Surrey, BC V3Z 9V2 (1-604-542-9022) or to Pro Life Cornwall - https://www.lifecanada.org/donate would be greatly appreciated by the family.

It did not take long for Wendy and I to become friends, and soon after with Peter. It was Wendy who approached me. I was getting out of the car, trying to juggle a toddler and groceries and along cake Wendy to introduce herself and offer assistance. Wendy would pop over regularly, especially when we had a new born twice more, to see if I needed help. Dishes, tidying and sorting socks, Wendy was happy to do it all. Reading the kids a bed time story or learning how to make tomato sauce. Many of my favourite memories from our days on Harvest included Wendy. Helping me weed the garden or looking after the kids, Wendy had a true servant’s heart. I cherished our conversations when I would visit for tea. The world is a better place because of Wendy. We often joined Wendy with her latest clean up project-our secret mission to take pictures of the elastics littering the grounds at the post office. As quickly as we became friends, we became family. I love you Wendy and would give anything for one last cup of tea with you.
