Devoted father of Chris (Alena) and Donna (Al Castillo), who will always remember a dad who played with them and made sure they were deeply cared for. He was also the proud, treasured grandfather of Alexandra (Sean McCallum) and Darren, and great-grandfather of Liam and Jake McCallum.
He will be dearly missed by his good friend Gale McCallum and his former wife of 40 years Frances Shield.
William is predeceased by his parents John and Doris (née Dickens) Shield; as well as his sister Isabelle Wilson (late Fred).
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lahaie and Sullivan Funeral Home West Branch (20 Seventh Street W, Cornwall, ON) on Tuesday October 13, 2026, between the hours of 10:30AM to 12:30PM.
Memories to be shared in the room at 11:30AM.
Cremation to follow.
