She postponed her plans for college to work in the war effort during World War II. In 1943 she came to California on the train for the duration of the war. As soon as she stopped in Riverside she smelled the beautiful orange blossoms and countryside and knew she was home.
Arriving in Huntington Beach in 1943, at the home of her Aunt, Nettie Peebles, she began attending First Christian church with her cousins Nadine and Johnny.
She had a wonderful life playing golf, bridge, dancing, working at her church, and helping people.
She leaves behind her loving daughter, Cheryll, many adopted sons and daughters, and her adored son-in-law, Pete Christey.
We will all miss her greatly.
