

Barbara experienced complications from chronic infections over the past nine years and died peacefully at home. Barbara was born on December 20, 1937, in Wall Lake Iowa. Barbara graduated from Wall Lake High School in 1955. After completing high school, she received a teaching degree from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley. From the 1960s through the early 1980s, Barbara taught elementary school in Germany, Japan and the United States. She spent most of her teaching career within the Corona-Norco Unified School District in Southern California.
Barbara met her husband, Carl Mosen in Palo Alto, California and they married in 1970. Carl and Barbara moved to Newport Beach in 1974 and resided there until their deaths in 2025. While living in Newport Beach, Barbara was a successful real estate broker and partnered with Carl to co-found “Sober Living By The Sea”, a drug and alcohol recovery facility in Newport Beach, CA. She later became a co-owner of “Hotel California By the Sea” with Carl. Barbara was known for her friendliness, compassion and love of animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, mother Leona Vogel (1976), father Paul Vogel (1990), brother Don Vogel (2013), sister LaVonn Herrig (2014), brother Dale Vogel (2024) and husband Carl (2025). She is survived by her sons David and Mitchell Mosen, daughter-in-law Kim Vesco and grandchildren Madeline and Zachary Mosen. Barbara is mourned by the countless number of people she called friends that came into her life.
A celebration of life is planned for Barbara in Newport Beach, CA in early August 2025.
