Born December 21, 1935 in Huntington Park, California to Sadie Elizabeth and Francis Parsons. Carol was the youngest of 4 siblings and grew up to pursue a career in teaching.
She began her teaching career in Downey, California at Earl Warren High School, September, 1959. She taught girl’s physical education and was the faculty advisor for the Honey Bears Drill Team. She taught at Warren for over 30 years, not only teaching physical education, but also music and mathematics, and participated in many extra curricular school activities. Carol was a dedicated teacher and was always in her room or office before and after school to help her students and encourage them. Carol had many friends at Warren and was a loyal faculty member and a credit to her profession. She retired from teaching June 25, 1994.
There are many fond memories of her traveling to spend Christmas vacations with the family when we lived out of state in Hawaii and Illinois. Summer vacations were also shared, whether it was a trip to Europe to visit the Alpine countries that she thought so majestic or visiting sites of past Olympics to marvel at. She especially loved spending time with her sister Margarette - they were an inseparable duo. Carol enjoyed camping with her ex-roommate, began a picture framing business and took to growing orchids, all this and teaching too!
In 1969 Carol joined Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church. She was an active member of the Chancel Choir for more than 25 years, with classical music being her favorite. Carol became a Deacon in 1999 and served 2 terms. While a Deacon of Senior Adults, Carol was instrumental in formation of the new ministry team of Senior Adults. She was very involved with the Stewardship of the church. She kept the weekly attendance records for over 10 years, counted the weekly deposits, was active in the Deacon Ministry of Transportation, served as Deacon of Communion from 2008-2011 and was an after service prayer person for the Worship Ministry.
Throughout her life Carol was a kind, thoughtful and generous person. She was always there to help, no matter how big or small the task. Her ties to the church brought her many new friends and renewal of her faith. That is why it is so hard to say goodbye to an aunt who meant so very much to me and who always encouraged me to be the best that I could be. She will be missed more than she could ever imagine. She is at peace and with our Heavenly Father, and with her brothers and sisters.
I will love you and miss you always.
Your Niece,
Susan
