Cody Yellen

Cody passed away on Friday, August 2, 2019. Cody was too young to list a page of accomplishments which had he lived his full life would've certainly been here. He attended St. John's Elementary School, Santa Margarita Catholic High School for his freshman year, then transferred to Mater Dei, where he graduated in 2011. From there he went to Boulder, Colorado as a preferred walk on to play football. After getting through the summer he surprised us with a call that said he would be quitting that day. He said he wasn't good enough for the NFL and this was a full-time job, and said, why should he break his face for something that wouldn't end up going anywhere? So he decided he should give it up and move on. He transferred to Chapman. Cody was a kind-hearted, sensitive person. The first compliment l'd always get was, "he is so polite," and he was. He was also brilliant which actually may have hurt him more than it helped; he didn't always get other people's humor or small talk which can make life hard. Cody was so funny (dry humor), like at my dad's service when the hearse rolled back and almost hit the pallbearer, they all jumped out of the way and he just turned and said, "aggressive sales." lt provided a comic relief that we all needed at the moment. Cody was so handsome and so sweet and there are no words to express how much I loved him and am going to miss him. We all are. He is survived by his parents, Beth and Jeff Yellen; his brothers, Austin Yellen, Joey Yellen, his sister Angie Yellen. His aunt and uncle, Mary and Pat Embree; his cousins, Michael, Stephanie and Jennifer Hydock. I am so sorry the help he reached out for didn't help and that as his mom I didn't know how to help either. I will miss him and love him forever, and forever there will be a hole in my heart. Until I get to see you again Cody, I love you. Family services Friday, August 23rd at Pacific View Memorial in Newport Beach.
