David Alan McAllister

David Alan McAllister, 86 died Friday, May 1, 2020 in his Costa Mesa home, which he resided in for 58 years. Dave was born April 12, 1934 in Portland, Oregon and was the son of David Charles McAllister, and Leta Mary Julia Carte McAllister. David married Joyce Evelyn McAllister May 24, 1961. David and Joyce were sealed for time and all eternity March 4, 1998 at the Los Angeles Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After the passing of Joyce, Dave was then married to Rae Jeane McAllister November 3, 2001 until her passing August 21, 2012. Dave married Janice Patricia McAllister on October 12, 2013. David is survived by his wife Janice Patricia McAllister, daughter Julie M. Simkins, sons, David A. McAllister II, Robert J. Farrell, Jr., Timothy R. Farrell, Rick L. Farrell, and Stephen P. Farrell. David has many grandchildren and great grandchildren. David graduated from Garden Grove High School and was Valedictorian of his class in 1952. Following in his father’s footsteps, he began his career in construction as a cement mason that same year. Through his hard work, his career rapidly took off. From foreman to superintendent to general superintendent, he rose through the ranks of the Sturtevant Corporation until 1961 when he became a custom home superintendent with Ivan Wells and Sons. At Ivan Wells, he built many nice homes in the Dover Shores area of Newport Beach. At the closing of Ivan Wells in 1974, David moved on to Broadmoor Homes as Superintendent with his first project in San Clemente. With an unmatched drive and work ethic, he again rapidly advanced through Broadmoor until he reached the position of Vice President of Operations in 1979. Then, in this same year David took his vast construction knowledge with him to Irvine Pacific, the home building arm of the Irvine Company as the Vice President of Operations. While employed with the Irvine Company, David worked at Irvine Pacific, California Pacific Homes, and Irvine Apartment Communities until his retirement in 1998 to care for his wife Joyce. David earned the respect, admiration, devotion and love of all those who worked with him, and his ideas, innovations and legacy still lives with those who knew him. David was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Costa Mesa 1st ward. He served with love and devotion as ward missionary, ward mission leader, High Priest group leader, Stake High Councilman, as well as serving as a missionary at the LDS Employment Center. He served in his callings in the Church with the same energy and dedication as he did everything in his life. David was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and bowling with Joyce. He was fixated and passionate about his house and spent hours tending to his yard and garden. He loved his family and took joy in visits he received from old friends and family. A private burial service will take place on May 6th at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar. A memorial service is planned for a later date, when circumstances allow. In lieu of flowers, David's family would appreciate donations in his name to VA soldiers.
