We will miss Doug's sweet deep booming voice and all those amazing and intelligent conversations. He seemed to know something about everything. There will always be the vision of Doug and Kate holding hands and gazing at one another. Goodbye, Doug.

It's odd that I can't find the words. Doug, more so than many friends I've had in the last two decades, occupied a distinct place in my life filled, when I was going through both good times and bad. I never got to know him as well as I should have, but I knew him and Katherine well enough to call them family. It's been a very long time since I've been in their presence, but the bonds of friendship never faded, and I know he would've had a handshake and a smile for me when I next saw him. He's on his way to spread his warmth and friendship else where now, but he'll never truly be gone to those he left behind. He's in our hearts and minds, in our memories and our friends and family. Farewell.

My sweet Doug,
I miss you so much every minute of every day. I still can't believe you're gone; everything I do, say, see and hear, I think, "I can't wait to tell Doug!" And then I remember that you're not here, and my heart breaks all over again. Thank you for making me feel like I can do anything. Thank you for being the kind, honest, funny, brilliant person you were. Thank you for taking such good care of my heart. In your arms will always be my "safe place" and I will love you always and forever.
