OBITUARY

Dr. Rekha Nath

10 November, 1958 – 3 January, 2021
IN THE CARE OF

Pacific View Mortuary & Memorial Park

Dr. Rekha Nath (nee Sinha), was born in Kashmir, India to Dr. KNP Sinha and Lajwanti Sinha. At the young age of 16, she joined the Armed Forces Medical College and rose to the rank of Captain in the Army Medical Corps before coming to the United States to pursue her passion for pediatrics. After completing her residency at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, she spent over three decades working tirelessly to care for the young children of Orange County.

Rekha was a thoughtful and supportive wife to Aloke and a devoted mother to her three beautiful children, Aditi, Anusha, and Ashwin. She was also the best MIL to Raj and the best dog-mom to her faithful companion Pele, who never left her side. Rekha was a role model to all, never hesitating to pursue new hobbies, including earning a black belt in Tae Kwon Do in her 40s. She enjoyed spending time with her friends engaging in poker parties and wine club gatherings and loved traveling to India and new places around the world. Most memorably, Rekha will be remembered as a dancing queen, having excelled at various art forms such as Kathak, Flamenco and Bollywood styles. She spent the last 10+ years performing with the NDM dance troupe in Orange County.

Rekha was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive advanced small bowel cancer in March of 2020. Despite this, she decided to undergo a rigorous chemotherapy regimen and battled the cancer relentlessly with grace, dignity, and words of encouragement for her entire family. On January 3rd , 2021, surrounded by her loved ones, Rekha’s soul left her earthly home for her new life with God. She was deeply loved and will reside in our hearts forever.

Rekha's legacy revolves around the young children's lives she cared for, the parents she supported and comforted, the joy and love she brought to all her family and friends and the respect of her peers. Her dream was to join Doctors without Borders in her retirement and help underserved children around the world. To honor her life's work, donations in Rekha's memory can be made via the links below:
