

Jean was born on June 3, 1927, to James and Ethelwyn McIntyre, in Portland, Oregon. When Jean was a child, the family moved to Los Angeles, California. At John Marshall High School, Jean would meet her future husband, Harry Baker Jr. After graduating from high school, Jean when on to study at USC. In 1948, after Harry graduated from college, the two married. Early in their marriage, they moved to Portland, Oregon, and started a family. They had two sons, Brad and Bill. In 1958, the family returned to Southern California. (Newport Beach and Corona del Mar) to support Coast Carloading, the company started by her parents.
Jean’s favorite pastimes included golfing, boating, skiing, and traveling with family and friends. Jean’s favorite getaway was Catalina Island. She went there to visit her uncle as a young girl and continued visiting for her entire life. She was a member of the Balboa Bay Club and Santa Ana Country Club, where she served as President of the Ladies Club and spent many happy years playing golf and cards. She also volunteered with local charities, the Newport Beach Junior Ebell Club and the Assistance League of Newport Mesa. She took her children and grandchildren on amazing family trips that forged strong family bonds and will be treasured forever. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Jean was predeceased by her mother, father, and husband. She is survived but sons Brad (Karen) Baker and Bill (Emmy) Baker, grandchildren Ashley (Chris) Clave, Stefani Baker, Addie (Bobby) Buglione and Will Baker, plus four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Catalina Island Conservancy.
