Joan Raquel Heller

Mrs. Heller was a respected teacher for many years, first in Long Beach, NY and then in Short Hills and Millburn, NJ. Over the years she often heard from her former students who reached out to let her know what a difference she had made in their lives. She was known for giving her students creative assignments that encouraged them to stretch their imaginations. She believed every student had potential and worked hard to give them the confidence they needed to succeed.

An avid reader and talented painter, Mrs. Heller never met a New York Times Sunday Crossword Puzzle that she couldn’t complete. She was beloved by her adoring children who she taught to love reading, education, art, music and, especially, family.

Mrs. Heller is predeceased by her loving husband Jerome, precious daughter Lauren, and beloved parents Ada and Bernie Blum. She leaves behind her devoted daughters Susan and Karen, her adoring son-in-law Yehuda, and her dear Izzy, who will all miss her extreme kindness, brilliant mind, great sense of humor, impeccable sense of style, steadfast support and, above all, her unconditional love.

There will be a private burial on Thursday, April 1, 2021.
