Juanita Jones

Juanita Faye Jones, a resident of Orange County for 19 years, passed away November 22, 2015. She died of natural causes in her home in Rancho Santa Margarita with family by her side. Juanita was born in Omega, Oklahoma on February 28, 1928 to Edgar Solomon Hale and Hannah Elizabeth (Wood) Hale. She is predeceased by her parents and her husband of 56 years, Alonzo Howard Jones. Surviving family include her daughter Deborah Rae Barabe and her husband Pete , son Greg Alan Jones and his wife Alice, niece Judy Thomas, nephew Jimmy Jones as well as many cousins.

Juanita married the love of her life, Howard, on October 25, 1947. Shortly thereafter they moved from Oklahoma to Colorado where they started their own family with the addition of Debbie and Greg. From Colorado they moved to Grants, New Mexico and then on to Albuquerque where they lived until 1996 when they moved to California to be near their children.

Juanita’s life was characterized by her love of family. As an only child she was surrounded with love by her parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends. As life brought new people into her circle each individual (and consequently all of their families and pets) quickly became family to her. As her parents aged she took tender care of all of their needs.

Juanita loved to travel the country with Howard and their poodle companions. It was not an uncommon occurrence to see them headed down the road with their car loaded down with various family members and friends, both young and old, tons of luggage and poodles. They were always ready for an adventure. Or they would graciously welcome you into their home for as long as you wanted to stay, and then try to persuade you stay a little longer.
