Nancy Frazee Ganio passed peacefully on January 11, 2026 shortly after the arrival of her daughter and son-in-law. She waited for them so they could be by her side in the last moments of her 97th year.
Though a California girl at heart, Nancy was born in Cedar Rapids, IA, graduated from Stephens College and proceeded to live a full life as a devoted wife and mother. She had the great fortune to live in some fabulous places – New York City, Sausalito, CA, Japan, Hawaii and finally, Dana Point, CA. Along with her husband, Felix, she developed a love for travel and immersing herself in different cultures around the world. Nancy deeply appreciated the beauty and history of every place she visited, took copious notes, oodles of photos and had fabulous stories to tell.
Next to travel, reading was her passion. She read only non-fiction, possessing a seemingly unquenchable thirst for knowledge right up until her last days. In the long run, Nancy’s collection of books grew to overflowing; an expansive library.
To her friends, Nancy was known to be, conservative, kind, thoughtful and generous. She was an elegant, poised lady with an appreciation for fashion and the finer things in life. She was also fiercely independent and stubborn, keeping much to herself in her later years.
Her dear friend, Maria Elena, wrote this about Nancy: “Nancy was always happy, joyful and full of life. She had a warm and radiant spirit that touched everyone around her. She loved music, especially Il Volo and generously shared their concert experiences with several of us, traveling in elegance and style in the finest limousines. Nancy’s love for life, music and friendship created beautiful memories that will be forever cherished.”
Nancy is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Theresa and her husband of 42 years, Felix, alongside whom she will rest. She is survived by her daughter, Diana and son-in-law, Stan.
