Oscar C. Schuster, 89 years old, July 27, 1923 – March 24, 2013 …It is with immeasurable sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Oscar. Oscar spent a wonderful 66 years with his beautiful wife Gloria who were married in 1947. They traveled, collected antiques and artwork as their hobby. Enormously adored father to Howard (Margo) and Teri (Jeff) Carter. Proud & cherished grandfather to Blayne, Jennifer and Brian and beaming great grandfather to Kaycee, Mikey and his newest little Sloane. Among his other family members he was uncle, brother, brother in law, grandfather in law. Oscar was a decorated veteran who served in the US Army with pride and honor in WWII. He was a Revered Custom Home Builder who is still referred to as “A Master of His Trade” by past friends and colleagues. Oscar started a custom home building business along with his wife Gloria, Son, Howard, Daughter Teri and Son in law, Jeff which continued for many years developing properties of distinction and quality in Beverly Hills, Malibu and Westlake Village. The business was named after his three grandchildren and called B.B. J. Enterprises. Oscar possessed the gift of “golden hands” that could sculpt, paint, build, create magnificent gardens, and accomplish anything he set his mind to do even as a young boy. He truly had a love for artistic beauty. He had a special place in his heart for Westerns and Cowboys and for his little doggie “Maxey”.
Truly a man of honor, integrity, and goodness, Oscar was born to Sam and Edith Schuster in 1923 in Los Angeles and grew up with brothers Edward and Milton who have all preceded him in death. He spent wonderful years among family and friends in Westlake Village and finally in Irvine. His legacy will be not just the beautiful custom homes he built and the loving family he leaves behind but that he will always be loved, admired, cherished and missed. The world has lost one of the true “good guys”!! Oscar truly epitomized the meaning of the “Greatest Generation”.
